George Salviati Painting - Seascape
Born in 1948, in the commune and port of Livorno, in central Italy, George Salviati, knew from a very young age that the ocean would always play a large part in his life. At the age of twelve he discovered that he had a talent for drawing, which led to a lifetime love of painting. His parents realizing his talent sent him to art school, along with apprenticing him to various artists in the area. After completing his formal education Mr. Salviati worked at various occupations, which allowed him to travel extensively before ending up in Southern California in the 1970’s. There he fell in love with the southern coastline of California, especially the area around Carmel and the art world fell in love with his paintings. Salviati’s knowledge of wind and waves, and his unique perception of how light plays through the sky and water, combined with his artistic ability to blend colors to achieve this look, gives the viewer a sense of actually being at the shoreline looking out to sea. In the mid 1990’s Mr. Salviati moved back to Italy where he continues to paint for the art market, and his paintings are in collections worldwide.
